NEFC as a Denomination Even though NEFC is a Fellowship of Indian churches, in the eyes of the Government it is a religious denomination because of its incorporation. NEFC does not emphasize its identity as a church denomination but would rather be looked on as a Fellowship. There is no religious hierarchy in NEFC because NEFC believes in the full autonomy of its membership churches. The NEFC administration can approach a member church only when there is a doctrinal difference or a violation of a by-law which each member church has agreed to follow.

Fellowship and spiritual growth is accomplished through an annual General Conference, an annual Pastor's Conference, and within NEFC News and other Publications.
